Zbigniew Łoskot

1 IX 1922 - 1 IX 1997

Painter, printmaker, illustrator. Author of the monumental sacred art projects in many churches in Poland. Studied painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (graduated 1949), under Zbigniew Pronaszko and Adam Rychtarski.
Is being remembered drawing all the time and everywhere in his inseparable sketch-notebook, documenting places, people, landscapes, everyday life: sometimes very private, intimate scenes, sometimes important memories for all the nation such as the pilgrimages of pope John Paul II to Poland.
Well known for sacred art works. His polychromes, stained-glasses, scratch-work and mosaics can be admired in interiors of over thirty Polish churches and chapels.
Created in different techniques: oil-painting; aquarelle-painting; distemper; wood-cut; linocut among them.
Was also illustrator of numerous books mostly children and youth books.


He’s famous for designing cover of Millennium Bible.
His artworks were displayed in multiple group or solo exhibitions.
